AMETHYST BOAT SHAPED BOWL WITH PULLED ENDS - ID = Bayel
« on: July 01, 2010, 04:56:38 PM »
Hi all
bought this nice bowl today which has a ground pontil as you can see in the pics. I've no idea of the maker but it is a lovely boat sort of shape. It measures L 30cm approx, W 9cm, H 12cm at tallest point. it is much brighter than on pics which don't do it justice
Thanks as always
Lyn

Lyn:

A tough one as a variety of companies did very similar pieces, in Murano, Scandinavia and elsewhere. This looks more like a Scandinavian version to me, based loosely on the Flygsfors Coquille line. Scandinavian companies to look at include Magnor, Ryd, Sea Glasbruk. I'm sure there have been a couple of threads on pieces like this.

When you say brighter, do you mean a different shade of red or more vibrant?

Thanks both, I do mean more vibrant rather than redder, it is a definite amethyst / purple, I thought I saw someone query something similar here recently, but then could not find it (perhaps I dreamt it after all)
thanks again
Lyn

I think it's Bayel. My Bayel looks quite similar in style (and that one has a label, so...)
