Heya ppl!
I just have to tell you about a horrible experience I had during my vacation....
Me and my girlfriend decided earlier this year that we would drive up north to my parents place during our vacation. It's a rather long journey, about 2200 kilometers back and forth. Since we're both interested in anything vintage and don't like to buy brand new stuff we came up with the idea that we would make it a vintage shopping vacation and make stops along the way at every shop or house with a "fleamarket" sign. Said and done, we left the city we live in in the morning and got on our way. We had this map which came with an antiques magazine I bought but the real finds were at fleamarkets that people had next to their houses. I found some bowls and other Czech utility glass and Mika (my girlfriend) bought some ceramic candleholders. Anyway, after about 11 hours we arrived in a rather small village called Malung where we knew there was a vintage shop. When we went in it didn't seem like a good place at first, the place was cluttered with old office furniture, but further in we saw a lot of glass. I turned my "Czech-dar" on and from a distance I noticed something that looked like a Josef Svarc vase.
As I got closer I became more and more convinced that it was and my heart started racing because I knew that if it was it would be a real bargain. Also, I've been having a hard time locating quality Czech art glass lately and I really like the Svarc vases. When I was about 3' away I was 100% sure it was THE vase I wanted so badly. Upon examination I noticed that some genious had drilled a hole through the bottom of the vase as well as a grove for the cable so that the vase could be turned up side down and be used as a table lamp. Honestly, WHO DOES THAT!!!?? :thud:
Best Regards
Emil
