Help please ID this enamelled vase
« on: July 13, 2010, 07:53:01 PM »
Please  help ID this hand painted enamelled vase.

It looks to have quite a lot of age , the only maker that I can think of is Harrach.

Height 18cm, there seem to be 4 tool marks to base where item stood on when made

Thanks Roy

Interesting piece, going to stick my neck out, being a novice re Bohemian glass, and say I don't think so,the decor' down the sides reminds me of Italian stuff, the finish is different to the pic's I have of Harrach but just going on gut feelings so see what the more learned members have to say :pb:

Definitely made by Gordiola in Mallorca - I have seen very simitar items in their museum earlier this year, made in the 1920s. For full discussion check the ROYO discussions on this site - even if the full details have remained obscure. I suspect this item predates the arrival of decorator Royo - but it is  difficult to tell.

This is one of the better looking Catalan pieces I have seen. Check to see if you can find any writing that looks like Cirera. The quality of the work looks much like his decorating. From what I read about Genis Cirera-Casonovas, he worked out of Barcelona for a good bit of his life. Royo's decorating is very much like his. Royo's enamel tends to be a bit thinner, based on the pieces I have seen. Maybe you can find one of their signatures on your vessel.

I have to defer to Ivo. He said it first. I just added on.

Reading through this makes me realize that one has to have a course in Spanish geography to understand anything we wrote.
