Hi Kane - yes I saw that listed several times. Glad it is a nice piece of glass though - does it really need to be anything else?  ;D

I've got problems with my monitor and my colours are weird and washed out, but was wondering if it looks anything at all like this Stumpf, Touvier and Violette salt, colour-wise? Is there a gold lustre to it?

How is the rim finished? If it's only roughly polished, perhaps the indenty bits were for accommodating wire mesh struts to support flowers?

Looks a bit impractical, washing-wise for anything food related...... Ink-well of some sort? Mustard?

If it's Art glass, of course, it does not have to be for anything but beauty. Though this does look as if it should be for something.

May be the top to a decanter/bottle - also used to measure out and pour from?
Just thinking aloud ;D

What was *it* advertised as?  anything?  What did they know about it -- or nothing either?  As in Unknown...

Hi jakgene, yes it was listed for a very long time. I was amazed no one else bought it.

It was listed as a jug, only because the seller didn't know what to list it as. But they did have the possibility that it was scandinavian. Which I tend to agree with.

The rim is polished and there is no markings from something being there originally. Even the 'spouts' have no scratchings to them.

I had considered that it may have been a decanter lid but the opening is just a little to large. The spouts are useless as a pourer.

For the use of food it just seems impractical for sauses, mustards and even salt.

Not sure about the gold lustring though chopin-liszt due to the 'tangerine' type colour combination.

Maybe I should just leave it as 'Art Glass' or an 'odd bowl'...come the day I decide to sell it that will be an entertaining ebay listing!!!...

I've seen some interesting oddball glass that was medical or scientific in original purpose.  I got no idea though.

How much does it hold?  Could it be a measuring cup of some kind?  Have you tried pouring water or oil from the 4 spouts, is it handy and convenient if used that way?   I never really found that more than one spout was necessary but as I looked around I saw a number of things, water bottles, pitchers, etc that had 4 spouts kinda like that.

Thinking laterally - it reminds me of a fondue pot - I wonder if you had cutlery of some sort to go with it - say long handled teaspoons.  You could use it to put a sauce - say Thousand Island dressing onto prawns or crayfish and each have you own spoon.  Or perhaps long handled forks so you could dip the prawn directly into the sauce.  Did I mention that I love seafood!!!!

Or as my father used to say - perhaps it is a wig-wam for a goose's bridle!
