Amber ROCKET VASE (??) - ID = Anchor Hocking
« on: July 17, 2010, 09:12:22 PM »
:hi: Hi, I do not know how else to describe this.  Reminds me of a Rocket, and looks kinda Deco -- and not sure if it is ??

About 8.75 inches tall
Top opening about 4 inches wide
Bottom is about 2.75 inches across

Any ideas at all?  Might it be older (Re: Deco period) ?  Thanks as always  :kissy:

P.S.:  Why do some glass collectors go all googly over Amber Glass?  Sure, it is a color -- but I have seen some other pretty colors to...  sorry if a silly question... :spls2:

Czech i would assume antique.

You either love amber glass or hate it. I love the James Hogan amber pieces. Absolutely stunning. And the amber colouring of the Rosice piece I have is very similar to the Hogan colour. This one of yours is a bit dark for me but it is still a lovely piece.

Been *rooting* around here some too, but can not find a definite answer as to age, and maker.

There is one like mine on ebay right now ($49.99): http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390208448138
...and a Green one on Worthpoint: http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/forest-green-atomic-rocket-shaped-vase-9  saying they think it is Anchor Hocking (???) but that is unknown it appears

Added:
Acccccccccccck -- I Just found another one same color ($29.99 there): http://www.tias.com/8877/PictPage/1922402583.html
Says there, quoted from above link:

Manufacturer: Anchor Hocking

"Fire-King manufactured this stunning vase made of heavy and thick glass in an art deco design.. The color is amber and vase has a rocket shape often referred to as the Zeplin Vase. Measures 8 7/8" tall by 4" opening on top and base measures. There are no markings, but I was told it is A.H. Circa 40s-50s. In good condition and SHINY IN/OUT."

So gee (maybe) I have now ID it as per these.....or maybe another member also has one.  Gee, if it from 1940- 1950 that is    Also says it is called the *ZEPLIN VASE*.  So I think it has got some +++ things going for it.  Age, color....and the name of either Rocket or Zeplin to it  :)

Try the forum I recommended to you the other day Rose www.chataboutdg.com

In fact it's in their gallery [LINK REMOVED] so Anchor Hocking it is.

Mod: Links to clicksnipwow removed as site is no longer connected to glass. Please visit http://chataboutdg.com/forums/ and use the search function instead

It's OK, but it's not Fire King, so the information isn't too accurate. Fire King was Anchor Hocking's heat proof range!!
