The following information was kindly supplied by David Fletcher:

J WUIDART & Co. of 26/28 Bartletts Buildings, Holborn-Circus, London EC4. was established in 1869. They imported mainly Scandinavian glass for retail. In the 30's they also commissioned James Powell and sons (Whitefriars) to supply Barnaby Powell designed Wealdstone glass for resale. They traded with Kosta and Orrefors as well as other import/export companies. In the 50/60's Ronald Stennett-Wilson, joint Managing Director was active in designing and making glass for them. The last date I have found for them existing is 1968 but they may have continued after that. Stennett-Wilson left and set up Kings Lynn Glass from 1967-69 and then after several takeovers etc was swallowed up by Caithness Glass.

As I understand they imported from several countries and other import companies as incazzatonero mentioned below.

There are two reasons for my suggesting Eastern Europe;

1- the egg itself looks like other eggs I have seen coming to market in Germany, admittedly not with this specific engraving.
2 - it's marked "foreign" -Wuidart labelled at least some of their Swedish wares "Made in Sweden" - http://www.glassbudvases.co.uk/wuidartlabel.htm.
Why not use the "Made in Sweden" label if it was? Using a "Foreign" label in the 40-60'ies suggests Germany, Eastern Europe or Japan to me.

You might want to have this moved to general glass for some of the experts on Czech, German etc glass to take a look.

Please note I'm not saying it's definitely not of Swedish origin, it could well be Swedish, altho I personally think not.

I have an advert from Wuidart in the Pottery Gazette of I believe from 1890 saying:
Sole agents for:
Belgian, French and other Foreign Glassware of every description.
Bohemian Vases, ...... &c.
Any help?
