I do not know the signature but I would think the first signature pic is the correct orientation.  ...just based on the flow of the writing and the arc you would get naturally on a round surface.

hi, could this be a piece of Isle of Wight? or am i just wishful thinking on this one, i know the pics are very grainy due to poor lighting, if i get chance i will try post some better ones.

As i were listing this on the well known internet auction site, i came across a piece very similar and is attributed to William Walker, ex Isle of Wight.
Can anyone please confirm this?
thanks

Not Isle of Wight Studio Glass, no. The shape isn't right, only certain pieces ever had applied feet (and this isn't one of them). The enamels  and colouring are more Monart-y than IoWt-y, but it's not Monart either.
Sorry, I don't know what it is. Just some of what it's not.

You know, after looking at photos of several William Walker pieces and signatures on the web I think you might be on to something.  The signature in your photo is hard to make out but there are some similarities in the form and placement..and also the way the base is ground is similar.  Can you construe the Sig to make out 'Walker'?

Today i have seen on ebay a vase with very similar pattern / colours attributed to William Walker EX Isle of Wight.

if the vase is a correct attribution, then my bowl is more than likely to be by the same person, hopefully this maybe an ID :)

Thanks cubby, the sig is very hard to read, the surname to my eye looks like 'wark'

There might be examples of Mr.Walker's signatures illustrated on the board somewhere.
He's even been here in person, in the not too distant past.  :)

I've had a wee search. Have a read of this thread. 8)

Thanks for the link, I've read through and it seems as though it is correct for William Walker, I have waited 5 years to find the maker and it came on the day I decided to pass it on :(

Thanks for all replies, appreciated
