Is this Davidson marble glass?
ChrisStewart:
Hi Anne,
I have seen these 242 baskets in flint, amber and uranium (which Davidson called canary). We do not know in what quantities the different colours were made in, but as Pearline was the most expensive and attractive, then these are the ones mostly likely to survive.
T'other Anne,
Your book will be posted today. I'm afraid we could not get to the post office yesterday.
Regards
Chris
Anne:
Chris, Thank you for your extra info. The flint one isn't as attractive as the pearline for sure, but it's a nice shape and unusual, so I'm happy to add it to my Davidson collection (which is growing nicely - thanks in part to having been able to ID some more of my glass as Davidson with the help of your book.) :)
The 242 flint basket in case anyone's interested (click thumbnails for larger images):

I was especially delighted to see the commemorative bowl with lid from the 1887 Jubilee in there, as I bought one of those years ago at auction.

I have similar pattern plates from various coronations, which I am also trying to pin down to a maker - not easy as you know! (Neither is getting decent photos of them - I'm on my third try now!)
