PALL MALL//LADY HAMILTON WINE GLASSES
« on: July 31, 2010, 11:28:12 AM »
I have had these glasses in the past and sold them as too light weight for my clumsy household!  The ones with "etched" diamond pattern seem to be called Lady Hamilton  like this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RARE-set-6-HUGE-Pall-Mall-WINE-GLASSES-MINT-8-75-h-/350376235543?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Collectables_Breweriana_SM&hash=item51940d1217

and the ones with a "cut" diamond pattern are called Pall Mall

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4-Edwardian-Cut-Etched-Glass-Tumblers-PALL-MALL-large-/380252473613?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_HG_DrinkingGlassware_RL&hash=item5888d0490d

In general they seem to be all called Pall Mall, regardless of the diamond pattern technique, but does anyone know anything else about them or  who actually made them?

Hi Emmi -
According to Andy McConnell's book at least some of these (with the cut diamond pattern) were made at Kosta and imported by Wuidart (see p. 226). There is a design drawing in the Kosta archive dated 20th October 1940, pattern 7534/W, with "J. Wuidart & Co." written at the top. I would imagine other factories made them too.

These seem fairly common glasses, don't they?  I'm sure I often see them in charity shops...although some of those patterns look the same to the untrained eye.

And Robbo!  ltns!  :hi:

Thanks Robbo  :hi: I have wondered for ages about these. And yes Max they are fairly common.  They seemed to go through a very popular phase about a year ago, fetching quite surprising prices on ebay especially in sets of 6. But I have never seen  listing with an attribution.
