« on: August 01, 2010, 09:06:23 AM »
Hello, can anyone please help me to identify this large lead crystal stork?

It's got some age, stands 22 inches tall. has oval shape, large, highly polished pontil under the foot.

Thank you

Nice bird! This is only speculative but in the Czech Republic there are still a lot of cranes .... also ZBS did a similar crane, this example is huge though!!

Is it entirely crystal colourless?
Is the base entirely poliched flat?

I should hope you will get some more replies on this one, even if my idea may not be proven.... good luck!

Hi Robert,
It is entirely clear crystal - although it does have a blueish/grey tint to it.  There's a beautifully polished pontil, quite shallow, oval shape, quite large, 2.5 inches long x 1.5 inches wide.
Years ago this had a sibling, same size and colour but it had some plumage.
I've taken a photo in natural light which I think shows it better.
Thanks for your reply
