Green glass vase with blue trails and color
« on: August 09, 2010, 02:04:05 AM »
Hi Guys I would be very pleased if anyone can help with my latest find (street market sunday)

It is in green satin finish with a blue base 4 blue lines top to base with a blue collar at the base of the neck it is onion shaped with long a neck finishing in a flared top, over all it is 9" tall by 4.75" dia at the widest part, the flared top is 2" in diameter. the base is concave .25" deep in the centre with a light pontil mark.

My first thought  is early 1900s by style but is it? a close look and it could have some age. I have added 3 photos 2 of the vase to show green colour and one of the base  not sure what the white mark is it will not come off.

I have vases in the same colour, with the green base and blue trails, and similarly satinised, but in a cylindrical shape, bought brand new in 1993 from a shop in Dunedin (with money given to Paul and I on our engagement). My memory is that my pieces were Turkish - but it was a long time ago.

I'll have to dig them out - they currently reside in the Garage from Hell (as long as I haven't disposed of them...)

Lafiore or Gordiola are more likely seeing the trailing, the iridescent satination and the bottom treatment.
