Amber Salt? Candle holder? for id

I'm not sure what it is to be honest. The top or what I presume to be the top is formed into a shallow bowl. All help and guidance most welcome.

Definitely piano insulators or to protect the floor from the feet of furniture. They come in a wide range of colours, designs and sizes. Frequently seen on ebay as salts or ash trays. The top is the bit with the raised knobs.

Experience teaches that anyone who begins to collect in any field can feel a change in his soul. He becomes a joyful man filled with a deeper empathy, and a more open understanding moves his soul.
Alfred Lichtwark (1852-1914)
