Pressed glass spills vases with oak leaf & acorn decoration
« on: September 16, 2010, 04:31:39 PM »
Spill vases:  http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y195/glassie/DSCF0281.jpg
Pattern detail:  http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y195/glassie/DSCF0282.jpg

Any ideas as to who might have made these pressed glass spills vases please?  I'm guessing someone like Sowerby, but not in any of the publications I have.  Approx. 4¼" high and roughly finished, made in a three part mold. No markings that I can see.   Quite old I would imagine

Many thanks ;)

 :hi:
Your links aren't working, Anne. I did try to re-address the link and go directly, but got in a tangle over which bits go where..........

Anne

They are very nice , I have not seen them before, I think Victorian.

Several makers used Oak and acorn , just guessing I do not think Sowerby if I had to name one maker Burtles and Tate

Thanks Roy.  I'm still checking out Burtles & Tate but haven't turned anything up yet.  Can't see any lozenge marks, but its a bit difficult because they are quite smallish and the pattern is fussy - almost lacey.

Its really nice to find a matching pair!

Anne — Two Burtles Tate oak leaf & acorn designs are illustrated in Notley / Miller's, the canoe and the bird bowl, both 1885 registrations, and the acorns are quite different.   So your vases are not by BT's 1885 mouldmaker.

I wish I could help more.

Only two or three ago I was reading about what Tiggers like for breakfast to my grandchildren, using the same book that I read to their mother.   It was lovely.
