Topic: Any ID ideas (white ground)

The seller of this paperweight says 'certainly Scottish'.  Not sure why - it doesn't look particularly Scottish to me.  But that said, I have no real idea who might have made it. Any thoughts, anyone? Maybe :or:?

I noticed this one too, I didn't notice the mention of Scottish as I rarely notice "attributions"

My best guess without seeing the base or the shape of the dome is a Chinese origin (or slightly possibly Murano).

The "painted" flowers with trapped bubbles are similar to other Chinese paperweights,
the white base and the seemingly poor glass quality also leads me in that direction.
There is a yellow cane in the centre of the pink flower that looks like a Chinese cane.

It's a nice weight with a nice delicate touch to it.

I like this weight and agree it has that Chinese white look to it.  I wonder, however, if the design is actually painted on the white ground or if ground glass has been used to create the the design which hovers above the ground.  Hopefully, someone from the GMB will acquire this weight and post more photos for us to enjoy.  It's pretty little thing .... very delicate.  The quiet pastels give it a peaceful "feel".

The latter: the seller bought this weight in March 2007 on ebay - and the auction then included a lateral view, clearly showing the coloured design to be floating above the white ground. So it is clearly not a "Chinese white" - might still be Chinese, though.

The original seller attributed it to Caithness - based on a "CG" marking on the base. The auction did not include an image of the base, though, and no further description.
