Clear Bohemian Pitcher (gold stripes) - with Label
« on: September 26, 2010, 11:10:02 PM »
:hi: I found this today, and I thought I better grabbed it at only $3.99.  In mint shape, with label.  Wear on the bottom, and a concave center.  No sure of the age of this item....and I did try to look for stuff under the word *GREGG* like the label says -- but I did not come up with much, so.................?

It is about 10.5 inches tall, and about 4 inches wide at widest point.  Foil label - silver and Green.  Can anyone shed some more light on this?  Or age??  -- as I was not getting much on the net..

It is pretty  ;)

Thanks

:fwr: Rose

Hiya Rose, I'd suspect that GREGG was either a wholesaler or importer, or a retailer, rather than a manufacturer.

Rose, I don't believe the pitcher is any earlier than the 50s, and quite possibly later.  Did you have a look at Jindrich's catalogue http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/Glassexport-Novy-Bor-195.154.0.html?  Though your pitcher isn't there, there are some beautiful examples of Czech water and drink sets.

In fact Musterbuch is from genial Pamela site, I have added only link to my web site to cover all resources together.
Seems to me that Anik is true, this is typical 50ties piece.

I did already browse resources for GREGG, I have no idea what does it mean. I suppose that it is name either "collection" or foreigner importer, nothing like GREGG is in our trade marks database.

The gold rings look very similar to the Borske Sklo vases, but I guess other manufacturers would have made similar?

thanks Jindra/Wayne and everybody for the Id on this.  :kissy:   so from around the 50's era

Also, just out of curiosity -- is that *label of any interest* to any of you.....since I noted that Jindra mentioned that there was nothing about GREGG in their trade marks database -- so just wondering IF that was of interest.

A lot of stuff exported to North America seems to have been sold with importer's labels. There is nothing in either the US or the Canadian trademark databases, but then not everything is trademarked.
