Hi Craig and all.

What is the name of the decor on this Kralik piece?

Hi Mac,

I will likely give you more info here than you were looking for.

The decor is referred to as "Pampas".  On the site the name will be used in quotes as I have here, which indicates that it is a name which has been applied to a decor by another house that is actually Loetz nomenclature. This decor, as an example, is an intentional mimic of a Loetz decor.

Another example would be Kralik's or Rindskopf's example of "Papillon".

We have tried to avoid using Loetz names as much as possible, but in some cases, such as this decor, the Loetz decor name has been applied in so many circumstances that it would be difficult to rename the decor and have it stick. In some cases Loetz decor names have become common a descriptive. "Tango" and Papillon" would be good examples.

In other cases Loetz names are applied to a decor by another company because of the intentional strong resemblance of the decor to the Loetz original. Kralik's version of "Gloria" would be an example of that. Examples of Kralik "Gloria" are commonly sold as Loetz, and examples of Kralik "Pampas" are commonly sold as Loetz also.

I felt it necessary to give the history behind the use of the decor name.

A very pretty example!!

Craig
