The label is a well known one, and, if I remember correctly, there are doubts about it being a Murano company, rather the glass is made elsewhere in the "Murano style."  I don't why someone would go to the trouble of marking the piece and then leave the label on.

I think it's more likely Italy, Nic. The label has been around for quite while.

But the label has been picked at on one side and are they usually on the bottom?

True enough about the label being picked. On the other hand, it's not unusual for Murano labels to be on the bottom, so that's not much of a clue. Judging by the glass alone, you're right if you're suggesting it could be Polish.

Shineyobjects, just as a matter of interest, can you tell us what price the seller was looking for?

Well, that 50 - 70 pounds I wouldn't consider spending.

Thanks.

Sounds like they're not convinced it's Venini either with that estimate.

It looks like the signature and label were added by someone who doesn't know anything about Murano glass. The signature is funny. I have the feeling the label is not original. I thought maybe it had come off the spot where the other label remnant is, but then the last couple of messages made me think. The lavorazione arte Murano label is usually very visible on the side of vases or inside bowls. I can't think of any that are hidden on the bottom. I wonder if someone thought that this particularly "Murano" label would help enhance the value of their "Venini & C" vase. Love it!
