Blue glass koalas flower frog is it Walther?
« on: October 22, 2010, 08:46:38 AM »
Hello everyone
I recently received this blue Koalas flower frog and although it has the feel and look of Walthers flower frogs(same base as the figures and fits into their holders) it is not in the Walther catalogues.Does anyone have any input or info on this lovely piece please?
I have put it in this flower float bowl as I think it's quite a good marriage.
Any information would be greatly received!
Thanks all!
Nige

Hi to you both!!!
I have seen somewhere about crown crystal in Australia but that was a long while ago and I cannot remember where I read it!
It's such a mystery for such a gorgeous piece!
Do you think certain items(Walther or the such) where made mainly for the Australian market?
I say that because some things turn up in Australia more than say Europe?

I think, there were, Nigel.
Not only Bagley's Koala vase, also Brockwitz made these bird and sealions bowls below (would say exclusively) for export. Both also do not appear in their catalogues, but as they come with Brockwitz pattern bowls...

The flower support of your blue Koalas is so very much Walther that I see a strong probability the beasts are Walther too.

May we see a picture of the base of the holder, please  :)

Hi Pamela
here is a photo of the holder. It is the same shade of blue as the koalas.
I have noticed that in Australia they seem to have the Bagley Koala vase. Also soem of Walthers pieces are found over there more than here such as Haarlem,Paradies and of course Koalas.
Does anyone know what would be the correct float bowl to put the koalas in?

No, definitely not. Too nice, too much detail, wrong blue.
