ID for candlestick please
« on: November 08, 2010, 04:47:03 PM »
Hi ,  I have been asked by a friend to post this 8.9 inch candlestick in the hope that somebody can help with identification, the Amethyst cone is a void,no base, with a continuous spiral of applied glass and a clear glass sconce,it appears to be signed but have no idea by whom were and when , weighing 654 grms I would think it is lead glass

   Cheers ,
                     Peter.

"First Glass" would appear to be Bob Crooks on googling - but I can't get the link I found to open. It looks like his work too, Peter.
Bob Crooks is one of the major makers to come from the illustrious stable of The Glasshouse in London - he was there in '86. I (seem to) collect the work of one of his students - Phil Atrill.

His work is sold by several highly reputable Art galleries who have a serious interest in glass up here in Scotland and a major one "down south" who I know sells his work is Primavera.
Nice find for your friend!

Also seen at the Red Barn Gallery at Melkinthorpe in Cumbria, where I saw some of his work earlier this year when I attended the opening of the Adam Aaronson exhibition there.
