The label tells you the vendor who sold the piece. Its possible that you might be able to determine something about the date it was made and where it was sold, but not who made it. To have been sold be a goldsmith suggests that it was probably considered a luxury item. Or, it's possible the label migrated from some other object?

I've just noticed that Frank Andrews is looking for a picture of this label.

He might be able to tell you more about who actually made this piece as well. I've dropped him a line.

Robert had already contacted me, the shop also retailed Monart. It would be interesting to know which other glass makers products they sold.

The 1938 and 1940 catalogues give the 9045 as only in flint

Hi

Thank you I did note this, but the shape and size are exactly the same as the bowl I have,   and the unfinished pontil is typical of whitefriars,  if I get any feed back from whitefriars avid collectors ebay is the place, I have listed at a high enough price to try and not sell but get further input.

Best regards

robert

Hi Robert,

What with listing fees, that's an expensive way of doing it! As well as here, you might try at www.whitefriars.com in the Is It Whitefriars section. I've added Whitefriars to your subject line to attract the Whitefriars experts.
