Help with Mdina piece / signature
« on: December 16, 2010, 06:08:08 PM »
Hi!

I´ve been asked for help on deciphering a Mdina signature by a friend. This is out of my comfort zone,
so your help would be highly appreciated.
The piece in question is a dark lime-green vase decorated with red blobs, streaks of what appears to
be green aventurine and gold foil. It has an organic shape - ovoid and slightly spirally twisted. It´s ca.
17cm high.
Unlike other pieces is has a bit more than the usual ´Mdina´signature. I think it reads:

Mdina 06
88 A

Would one of the numbers be the year? Any idea about the designer?

TIA
Dirk

This is very recent Mdina production. It appears to be from the 'Elegance' range. I think this is the Medium 'Double Swirl', though it could be the 'Triple Swirl' - it's hard to tell from the photo, & the drawings on the Mdina site aren't very detailed. This range is current production & can be seen here:

06 would be the date it was produced - 2006.

You could email them for more info, they are usually quite helpful, address here: http://www.mdinaglass.net/

;D, Keith, you have to admit it is somewhat different to the majority of the glass they have produced in the last forty years, you can take the bag off your head now...

Many thanks for your help! Wasn´t sure, which of the numbers could be a date. I´ll forward this info to Michael.
