Genuine Lalique ´Champs Élysées´?
« on: December 20, 2010, 06:44:05 PM »
Hi!
Hopefully I wasn´t too rash, when I bought this.  :X:
Do you think this is a genuine one? Where should I look at?
Measurements: 46 x 25cm wide and ~18.5cm tall, ~6kg.
TIA
Dirk

This looks absolutely like ones for sale for $3000, 46 cm x 19 cm is a check, and the signature is correct. I have seen a lot of real pieces with scratched in wobbly signatures like that. What makes you think it's a fake?

The price I got it for raised some concerns.  ;D
I haven´t handled any Lalique yet and there´s a lot of different signatures, when you search
the web. So - it seems I simply couldn´t believe my luck then.
Many thanks again!

Hi

The signature appears to be a 1960s one - well it was used roughly between 1960 and about 1976 -but from a photo its hard to tell if the signature is 100% right. Off hand I can't remember the design date -probably 1950s.

But you shouldn't judge a piece just by its signature!

In balance I'd say - from the photos it looks promising!

cheers

Mike

Anik, thanks for your warm-hearted comment. You are a lovely person!  :kissy:

Mike, thanks for having a look. Your comment somehow made me feel stupid. I had
- without any better cause than the fact that these are still in production - assumed,
this design was quite recent.  ::)
