Powell decanter stopper 1902
« on: December 28, 2010, 06:51:02 PM »
I found this silver stopper which fits one of a number of Powell/Whitefriars decanters. It is dated 1902, which is a year before Powell started making/stamping their own silver. It also pre-dates a lot of the decanters it should fit (eg. dented bottle c.1905, engraved bottle c.1904). I was wondering if anyone knows which decanter it would have been designed for originally and who made the stopper.

Looking through 'Jacksons' WF's book there's a decanter with a similar stopper(not a clear pic') on page 104,plate 22 dated 1904 based on a Roman bottle, not much help if you've not got the book but maybe there is a pic' on the WF's website. ;D
