? Leerdam Rabbit.
« on: January 05, 2011, 03:29:51 PM »
Is there anyone who knows a lot about Leerdam Glass who can tell me if this is really a Leerdam piece?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280605755199&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:GB:1123

Thanks for any help you may be able to give.
Rosie.

it is awfully familiar - but does not google well.

My own version of her involvement with Leerdam would be much less obsequious  :nogos:

Hi Ivo.....thanks for your input and Happy New Year.

I have reservations for similar reasons.....there is a lot of detail in this rabbit, unlike most of her pieces.  I have many, and indeed have one of these rabbits, although I have to say, another one would be very welcome in my collection!!
I remember when I bought it,  I thought it was Leerdam, although not necessarily Bloch's work.  However, somewhere at the back of my mind,  I think I have since seen one with a gold foil label on it.....not Leerdam.  So I am hoping someone will recognise it and say who made it.

The base is clear glass, unlike all the other satinated Leerdam pieces I have.....could that be a clue perhaps?

The rabbit is definitely not by Bloch. I assume the gold foil label you saw is a "Bohemia" label. There is also a satinated jumping hare that I have seen with this label. The same Ebay seller sells an elephant which - by the way - is by Bloch  ;)

Thanks NKP. I really appreciate you taking the time to post this reply.
In fact, I have just had confirmation from Leerdam that it isn't one of their pieces,  so it is good to have another reply to double confirm this.  I have informed the seller,  but he has not changed the listing details,  so I hope the bidders realise it isn't Leerdam.

I have a leaping hare that has some of the characteristics of Leerdam glass,  but like this rabit,  it has a clear glass base....I will try to post a picture of it today so that you can see it and maybe confirm this is the one you are talking about.

Just to round this one off....I have now seen one of these labelled on Emils Bohemiabloggen, so many thanks for your help Nankipoo(!) and Ivo, and good to have a positive ID.

Ivo  I think that is just what Emil calls his blogsite (or whatever they are called...sorry I'm useless with tech things) and that he happens to have other pieces on there as well, not that he id'd it as Bohemian.
