Hi all

Not sure if this figure is old or modern. The costume of the lady looks a bit from the deco era. In the normal light, the figure looks pink and a small tinge of purplish colour, but when exposed to the sunlight, the colour of the whole figure changed to blue. It stands at 15cm tall and is unmarked.

It doesn't look like it's part of the flower frog set as the base is flat and is not totally round.

Any info or comment is much appreciated

Thanks in advance

Cheers
Brenton

Hi there
sorry cant tell you much about the actual piece but i can tell you the glass is Alexandrite/Neodymium, which changes colour under natural light it will appear a pinkish lilac and under lighting it will appear blue. Sometimes its quite subtle and other times it can be massive difference in colour

FWIW it cannot predate the 1920s when this type of glass was first formulated. The image seems to be modeled after the bust of Marie Antoinette (which is in the cathedral of Saint-Denis).

My guess would be to look at American manufacturers. There are some starting points here http://www.mindspring.com/~reyne/neowhatsis.html

Just to 'chip' in here....the blue colour will only show up under certain light conditions....i.e the neon strip lights and some of the new energy saving lamps.

Such a pretty piece. I have never seen anything like that.  I will watch with interest to see if you find who made it.
