FLAMING RED FOOTED VASE WITH SILKY FINISH IDENT PLEASE
« on: January 15, 2011, 12:50:34 PM »
HELLO

This vase was donated to the IOW Hospice UK. It has several rim nibbles so we will probably not be able to sell it. We are very interested in learning more about the glass we are given and keep some pieces as a reference library. We have Andy McConnell's book but not any use in this instance. It has a matt, very smooth, silky finish on the exterior but the inside feels rather ridged. The base is hollow, a continuation of the interior and is slightly dished in the centre. The black seems to be applied to the outside as it is not visible inside.

Size:  20.5 cms. tall, 12.5 cms. across mouth, 11cms. across the base

Have added a base pic as requested, thanks for your interest.

Hi there:

As a guess, looks Czech (Bohemian??)  to me (Tango Glass ???) -- but someone with some more info will know.  Anything on the bottom?  Or have a bottom pic?

Thanks  ;)

Certainly Bohemian, my guess would be Rückl. Not tango as I think that's usually defined as two contrasting colours. I'm sure others will be able to add more...

Even with rim nibbles I would say it has some worth to a charity as long as they are not big chunks missing
Scroll down here for more examples (they're alphabetical)

Thankyou so much, that is exactly what it is, the satinised surface is very striking. Would you think it might be worth putting on ebay as long as very accurately desscribed and good photos? I could post pictures of the nobbles here.

Yes. Show us the nibbles anyway. More likely to sell on ebay than in a charity shop
