RED BOWL WITH CLOUDED WHITE INTERIOR
« on: January 27, 2011, 12:03:47 PM »
Another recent purchase of dubious origin but I still think it's a nice looking piece with its white, cloudy interior. Any thoughts please, John

Seen these in TK Maxx, which makes 'em modern and, from memory , from China.

I've seen quite a few different items with this cloudy feature - I think they're takes on designs produced by Kosta.
I have seen one bit with a sliver label, which read "Made in Taiwan for Fartylite". It had a sort of 3 tower/candle logo.
I am sure the label should have read Partylite.........

I was just doing an image search on Google for "Sea Glasbruk" and look what I came across:

Maybe not exactly the same, but very similar!

Thanks Wayne, shape on the Sea- Glasbruks slightly different, not such a rounded bowl, but finish very similar especially when holding mine in front on a light

Similar white striations swirled within items of glass made in Alum Bay, Isle of Wight, as well.........................................but just like these Kosta pieces the shapes are not the same as the bowl being asked about. Always worth checking though.

Having said that, it's curious how much of this style of glass has reached antique fairs and centres since it was retailing through TK Maxx   :o

They probably go to the same wholesaler as TK Maxx; the same ones that stock those huge pseudo-Murano Chinese things

The Taiwanese pieces have a "bird bath" base.
I've found it essential to keep an eye on what's appearing in TKMaxx. Quite literally tons of the stuff they sell appears in antiquey places.

Sorry to appear ignorant about these things but is this a "bird-bath" base, John
