Topic: GREEN BEAST of a vase - Czech?

This is a monster.....................8.5 inches ( 23 cms) high.  8 inches(21 cms( across rim,weighs 3.4 Kg.  Has indents on the rim rather similar to an ashtray, very scratched flat base.








Any help appreciated please

This is French, believed to be c.30s-50s. Cappa attributes the pattern to 'Verlux', but as these are typically unmarked I'm unsure how he arrived at the attribution... 

Try it under UV, it may be Uranium glass.

With my cheap and nasty UV pen, it does have a purple glow.

Verlux not Velux (they're windows) and if it doesn't glow bright green, it's not uranium.

Thanks Christine, a bit of a problem with my eyes today!   I don't have the proper set up to test if Uranium or not.............I'll just enjoy it for what it is.

Your UV pen would have worked fine if it was uranium.
