It has the number 24 or 25 (it is hard to determine) engraved on both the stopper and the base of the bottle. The stopper has part of the pattern picked out as a star in gold. The bottle is 6¾" tall with the stopper in, and 2½" square.

Even with the same number on the stopper and base, I think the stopper looks wobbly in that particular bottle. It just doesn't look to be a consistent size or shape for that base.

Or maybe it's just me - still sitting here at nearly 6 am. :?

Thanks Kev, it may be just the angle it's taken at - the stopper sits very straight and snug in the neck.

Now, for the error confession - it's my turn to wear the dunce's cap today! ... the question should have been Is this a St Louis perfume bottle, (not VSL!)

I found a couple of others with similarities -
http://www.great-glass.co.uk/library/lib3a.htm (in St Louis section)
one of these has more detailed photos here:
http://www.great-glass.co.uk/shops/shop1-3.htm (last item - scroll down)
and I found another with the number 18 in similar looking letters to mine on the stopper and base and now cannot find where I saw it! <doh!>

Hi Anne,

I agree that your bottle is of the same genre as the St Louis ones shown in the Great Glass site. The stopper in yours, in relation to the rest of the item, has the same overall appearance to me as the one in the Great Glass item 7573. I would have expected something a little bit chunkier, more akin to items 6352 & 5977, but I'll accept that less chunky is ok :D
