Given the size and thickness of the glass, I'd imagine it's a Roemmer (sometimes called rummer) - for hot toddies, rather than for wine - but I'm sure there will be somebody else here who knows a lot more than I do about this sort of thing.

Not my area, I'm afraid Tony - there are folk where who are very knowledgable though - it's just a matter of having patience until one of them turns up and sees your post.
(right atm,  I have a couple of bits of art cut Stuart - and I can't work out if they're jam stands or champagne coupes :spls:)

re the question of age Tony - is there any sign of a pontil mark - ground or otherwise - and is there any general age wear on the foot or bowl.   I cant really see from the screen, but what is the colour/tone of the glass  -  a greyish colour, or a bright clear glass? :)

there is a polished pontil and the stem and lower portions of bowl are faceted / sliced....wear is fairly minimal. the color appears clear to me....when i applied automatic color enhancement in photoshop it acquired a grey cast. there is a small bit of sand grit in one spot on the bowl.
