Maker of green Scandinavian cased glass vase
« on: March 14, 2011, 02:50:42 AM »
Found this gem at an antique store today for $7. Any idea who the maker is or what year it is from. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I think they are German but don't remember the details, search the board or wait for someone with a better memory. :-[

The suggested keywords worked like a charm! "Scandinavian style hooped green cased glass vase, possibly by Hirschberg of Germany" per 20thcenturyglass.com. Thanks everyone!

Hi, and welcome to the board!  :hi:

Just be aware that Wayne (who is a member of this message board) has only given a tentative identification.

(Wayne, if you read this, I have seen the vases with two spherical sections about half way down with an Italian label and so for those I would assume an Empoli factory rather than "Scandinavian/Swedish". I have a photo somewhere of the label which I'll try to dig out from the archives.)

For reference:

Only just came across this thread, while updating some old threads about these vases..

Turns out they are not Scandinavian or German, but Japanese, see here for one with a label:

Cathy, is this the one you mean?

If so I'll update the description, thanks!

But make sure you don“t confuse the Empoli ones with the Taubes... :24:

Oh dear lol.  Similar also from Poland:

Dirk, do you know if the Taube one's came in opaque cased (like the green one)?
