Hello,

This morning, I bought a little pressed glass hedgehog which is 7,5cm long and 3cm tall.  There is a small indentation in the base.  I thought it was the same as Emil has in his gallery here:

Now I'm not so sure as Emil's seems to have a thicker base.  Is my little hedgehog Czech?

Thank you for looking.  All help and comments appreciated.

My critter is Czech... I found a labeled example with some photos taken from different angles.  It looks just like mine.  :)

Just one more question:  Do we know which glassworks made these hedgehogs?  I've searched the catalogues, but came up with nothing.  Thank you.

Ya, it's Czech. Other than the ones I have I've also found a monkey in the same size and style, and in a couple of weeks I'll be adding two larger critters with frosted finish. I don't know which glassworks who made these and I've bombarded Jindrich with e-mails the last 14 days so I don't want to bother him again.  :-[

I'm guessing Jablonecke though, since these are purely decorative objects and doesn't match either Sklo Union production or Podebrady. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I've found several objects lately that can't be identified (on my blog under "Okänd formgivare") which shows that there's a ton left to discover. It's both "YAY!" and "DOH!" at the same time. I hate UFO's (Unidentified Fabulous Objects).

Best Regards
Emil

Emil, thank you for confirming.

And you're right -- there is still a lot to be researched and discovered in the area of post-war Czech glass.  Though frustrating, it's also very exciting.  My regret is that I don't have more time available for glass research, or easier access to documentation, pattern books, catalogues, etc.  Then, of course, there's the problem of not having an 'eye' to pick up variations in detail, or the ability to logically (and more quickly) register and understand information. :spls:

Here are the frosted criitters I was talking about:

Turns out they're Jablonecke Sklarny, which I would have known if I googled before I bought them :-[

Emil, I'm glad you found out which glassworks your animals come from.  :)

When it comes to Jablonecke Sklarny, I've got a very hard time finding any information (including catalogues)...

I found another one of these critters, a labeled turtle (turtoise?):

Hi Emil,

I've seen the same turtle at the market I go to on Sundays (without the label, however.)  I've also found a lion on Czech Aukro.  Have you found any of your animals catalogued?

Heya Anik!

Unfortunatly not, that's why I only buy the labeled ones and I have no idea how many species of animals that are represented in this (what look likes a) range. The only animal I've seen, other than the ones I have, is a monkey. The lion might be in Desna's current production? Jijndrich, help us out here   :X:

Best Regards
Emil

Thank you for your reply, Emil...  Here is the link to the lion:  http://aukro.cz/tezitko-dekorace-lev-s-i1634616686.html
There is also a bear which could also be Czech:  http://aukro.cz/sklo-medved-i1638029758.html

Both are without labels...  I still wish we had a catalogue. ::)  :)
