ZBS Zelezny Brod or other bohemia glass - ID please
« on: March 30, 2011, 09:50:01 PM »
Hi folks,

Can anyone enlighten me as to the designer/maker of this lovely little piece at all please? I suspect ZBS. It weighs approx 900grams and measures L: 8'' W: 2.25'' H: 3.5'' Base is flat polished.

Hope someone can help.

Cheers, Charlene

Wow, stunning piece!  I'd say ZBS too.

Wayne.

Many thanks for your input - Its a really unusual piece sort of in the shape of binoculars, really pretty in-hand. Any further suggestions/attributions welcomed of course.

Best regards, Charlene ;)

Not known to me, colour is not ZBS style. If Czech than rather other factory., possibly not very old.

I thought the colours looked quite similar to the ZBS vase shown [here].  Charlene's is maybe a bit more vibrant, but I put that down to possibly different lighting conditions?

You are true Wayne. Colour can differ in reality. But anyway, I have seen simmilar piece somewhere and it was not ZBS. BTW who has such nice collection,? I would surely like to have 3-4 pieces displayed there.

Ah well in that case, I guess not ZBS.  :)  I wonder who by though, I like their work!

The gallery belongs to Dusan, I'm not sure if he/she is a menber of this board, but they have one of the best Czech glass collections I have ever seen, it could rival Graham Cooley's!  ;)

I'd attribute organic neodymium and/or rosalith pieces to ZBS no problem. But I do have some problem believing the French tastevin in the picasa link is actually ZBS... I think an element of asumption could have crept in?

Wow, great link Wayne, thanks so much, I should imagine I'll be looking through that collection again once or twice!!! :)
Thanks Jindrich also for your advice, much appreciated - I would tend to think there's some reasonable age to the piece though, with the degree of base wear present but of course this is never a given.
By the way, my pics were taken in sunlight against clear white canvas so to my knowledge are the truest replication of colour possible... the piece is literally that precise colour in the 'flesh'.

Thanks guys, Charlene :)
