Vaseline glass pattern called "Ashleigh" - ID = Davidson
« on: April 07, 2011, 10:42:58 AM »
I recently looked through David Petersen's book  "Vaseline Glass - Canary to Contempory".  I think I can remember seeing under English glass a design that had been named "Ashleigh".  Do you have a photo of this pattern or can you tell me in which book I could find an example.  Thanks.

The name is a collector's name. It's a Davidson pattern with the registered number 193365 and more commonly known as the 1893 suite. Those words are more likely to give you hits. There is a B&W illustration on page 139 Davidson Glass: A History by Chris and Val Stewart.

If you cannot find it, I will email you a scan privately

Thanks Lustrousstone for your very speedy reply.  Have a copy of that book so looked it up.  Do you know if Davidson's made this pattern in pearline?

According to Dave Peterson in blue and yellow, but it doesn't seem very common in anything

I did not have a photo of this pattern when I originally pasted up the text and book, but wanted to include info.  I don't think i have seen more than two or three pieces of it in the past 12 years.  I wrote the book like 13 years ago, but it sat in limbo after the world trade center tragedy occurred, it was finally published late in 2002.  It is still a scarce pattern to find.

I found this today and can add some pictures of the pattern in pearline for reference.

A sugar  bowl height 4.5" /12cm diameter 5" or just under 13cm.

Here's a creamer in blue pearline for reference.

I would agree that this is an uncommon pattern.
