Mini carafe with ice chamber?
« on: April 08, 2011, 02:38:16 AM »
I bought this recently and haven't a clue about it. Without the green insert I'd say it was lab beaker or something. The base is concave and the insert is done very neatly. It''s 17 cm tall. I presume it's a little wine carafe with the insert there to hold a cube or two of ice.

No need to worry about my feelings on this one as the piece was thrown in with a Sarpaneva piece I bought. It's my curiosity that's driving my search here.  All suggestions very welcome, as would be any wine, preferably white, to test the carafe theory.

It is also available in blue. Italy jumps to mind - it often does...

Yes you are; crushed ice might be better. It looks like it's going to give birth to an alien baby.  :24: :24:

:hi:  Thought I would pass this on to you to see/read since your topic header is similar (and the Function of it) as to an item I had posted here back in 2007.

Thanks, Rose. Interesting to see the different styles, but I don't think I'll be collecting them. Do you still have yours?

More about them here: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,8347.0.html including an amusing anecdote from Stephen at Nazeing Glass about how they made them!
