Thank you Frank, John and David.    I do realise, however, that offering a buy-it-now price might be considered unacceptable by some.  I'm undecided though I did have a wonderful way of convincing myself it's OK a few days ago... there were no other bidders plus I offered the seller almost twice the starting price and what I was honestly able to pay.  Not completely evil.  Now, where did I leave my darn halo... ?

After some while another nice Skrdlovice find: Emanuel Beranek vase, PN 5906, 18 cm, in one of my favourite colourways.

I also found one of the Czech pieces high up on my wishlist (unfortunately heavily chipped to the base -- but at 2,- Euro I had to get it): a Josef Svarc vase with air rings

Michael, your Skrdlovice collection really is growing nicely...  :rah:    What a wonderful addition.

P.S.  As for the ringed Svarc vase, I had the opportunity to buy one on Allegro about 10 months back.  It went unsold for an opening bid of 90zl -- though it was in lovely condition, I didn't bet on it for lack of money at the time. :cry:    The seller, sadly, never re-listed it.

@Ross: I did contribute once to that thread (my windowsill display); unfortunately the major part of my collection is not displayed but stuffed in every possible corner of the apartment
But I'm working on a picasa gallery -- I will let you know once it goes online!

@Anik: What a pity you couldn't afford the Svarc vase then -- 90zl seems like a great bargain for such a piece...

I'm looking froward to seeing Rocco's Picasa Gallery, but in the meantime Anik has hinted that I should add this  piece to the thread.  It's heavy, cast glass designed by Petr Hora around 1990. It's 30.3 cm tall.  Robert tells me that Vizner and Hora experimented with cast glass at the same time. There is a Vizner cast glass piece in October 2010 Sypka catalogue.

This piece was bought in Canada and I admit I bought it out curiosity more than lust at first sight. But in person it is very striking and fits in very well with my other Skrdlovice blue pieces.

Ahhh, thank you for adding the sculpture to this thread, David  .   To be honest, I don't quite know what to think about the piece -- it doesn't hold a 'wow' factor for me, though the more I look, the more I find the clear part interesting.  I certainly wouldn't mind seeing one and handling one in real life.  I still think it's a great addition to your collection.

By the way, it does look wonderful with your other blues.   :hi:

Hi from Sydney, Australia!

I have this object by Emanuel Beranek, 1958, pattern 5869.
It retains its gold sticker “Hand made Skrdlovice Czechoslovakia” on its foot.
It is h. 23 cm. The blue fades to pink.
Thanks to both Jindrich and Robert Bevan-Jones for their help in identifying it and giving me the pattern number. Robert also mentioned that this was a piece done when Emanuel was retiring from the glassworks.
I have been collecting Bohemian glass of various periods for many years now and I had not seen another like this Beranek before. I liked it initially because of its similarity to Sarpaneva’s  “orkidea”. Australia has long been an importer of glass. The industry here was never really large. We imported from the States and from England, but the Czechs were great exporters. I have come to realize that much Victorian glass here is probably Czech rather than English.

Beautiful piece. Emanuel really knew how to use colour for maximum effect. 

I've bought a few quite interesting pieces of Czech glass from Australia so there must be a fair bit around. I should imagine it's the same situation as in Canada, much Czech glass gets identified as soemthing else. Do you happen know the name of the Australian companies that imported Czech glass?
