This vase bugs me it looks very sloppy in its manufacture no care taken in it at all it makes me think its a run of the mill victaorian mass produced item or a recent chinese etc copy it appears to have a slight opaline colour i think its known as you cant see through it in narural light either, The enamel is very plain etc just wondering what its known as or from when??? It measures 15" coul :vkg:d it be a decanter??

If it was a decanter I would expect to find some evidence of the inside of the neck being ground so the stopper would fit correctly.

I can see your problem - to me it seems modern.  That pontil is a bit unlikely from an older item, but entirely likely these days, when finish for so much glass is "quick & dirty".

I think you'll find it's ceramic rather than glass.

I would have said ceramic too, but why the weird rough mark in the centre? Is that from a kiln stand?

Is the foot hollow? Can you see light through it if you shine a torch down it? Whatever it is, I don't think it's Victorian; the enamel colours are just the wrong shades - too bright and primary (and I don't mean not faded).

It think it is glass too.  Can you get a better shot of the base so it shows any wear around the rim?  or can you look at it in the light under a magnifying glass to see if there is a matt ring round the base which would show any wear?
It looks in remarkably good condition.
