What kind of Glass Vase is this?
« on: May 24, 2011, 02:24:20 AM »
I have a Vase that is is 9" tall. At the top it measures about 20" around and at the base it measures about 11". There arent any markings to help me identify it, maybe there is a reason (not worth anything?). Was just curious about it.

It is advisable to post 4 Pictures if you can, when asking for help.
1.  A clear photo of the whole object - yours are fine
2.  A clear picture of the base it sits on!  Some people can tell more or less instantly whether it is right or wrong for a claimed item - we need to see one
3.  Vases & Bowls are best to have clear photo of the rim - again very useful in deciding which choice to make in some cases.  Yours is fine.
4.  Clear photos of any distinctive etched, impressed or engraved markings AND if available of a label.  I suspect you would have shown one if there was a label.

So in your case it would be a help to supple a base photo ASAP so people can help more.

Sorry I can't helpmore, other than to say it looks opalescent to me from the pictures -  or opal glass.  It's very pretty.  If the swirls were more 'coarse' I would have thought new production, but they look 'flowing' and delicate.
You could try searching opalescent fazzoletto and that may throw up some pictures.  Fazzoletto to the best of my limited knowledge is the word for a handkerchief vase .... I think :-\
something vaguely similar here http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/6302182

Looks like modern Spanish recycled glass to me.

well ... there is that as well.  It looked a little more refined to me than the ones I've seen recently, but then the cased base probably tips the balance as well.

Sold in TK Maxx. From memory it's Chinese.

I'm with Nigel on this one.
And absolutely nothing wrong with that, as long as you didn't overpay for it.
I have a purple stripey one by Tarnowiec, about the same size (also from TKMaxx).
I use it as a waste paper bin in the downstairs loo, and very smart it is. :smg:
