What the *QUACK* is this??
« on: May 25, 2011, 10:44:01 PM »
 :hi: there:

I know this is a Duck (at least I think it is) but I am not sure of the maker (as IF I ever am...LOL).  I somehow think (??) I have seen something like this somewhere before, but I can't find it now.  It is:

~ 6 inches high
~ 10 inches long, and
~ about 6 inches wide.

The base does show some wear.  Has Green, and amber in it.  Any ideas on the maker, or the age?

Thanks In Advance (TIA)  :kissy:

You might want to try Altaglass on that one Rose. Vaguely (not counting the head and neck) similar to one I saw this weekend (while visiting the corner cabinet that one day soon will be mine  :rah: ) at the antique mall.

Hi Carolyn:
No, I do not think it is AltaGlass -- as the base is not like the other pieces that I have here....and I believe much higher quality since I have some AltaGlass here.  Not knocking AltaGlass, but this is just made much differently (better and finer) than the what I have seen of AltaGlass.

I also looked at the AltaGlass {link HERE } about 6 pages there -- and I did not see anything like it there.

So still ????

**Added:

I did find this Duck here (the shape looks very much the same) and not sure IF the attribution there is correct or not -- but says it is Murano ??  So I am not sure yet.  Still hunting around here.

See Trocadero  http://www.trocadero.com/rcantiquesanddecor/items/968733/item968733.html

Maybe it is Murano -- as there is one kinda similar to this on Ebay with an J.I.Co label on it -- So maybe Murano  :huh2:  :X: :X:

Went back to the antique mall and had another look at the duck (after I paid off my cupboard  :rah: ). Bowl is the same shape, head is very different (the one at the antique mall is way more stylized), yours seems to be much smaller (or your phone is much larger  ;) ). Colour scheme seems similar (different colours, but same waviness).

Rose, I think your duck is Murano glass, but I don't know which company did it. It just has that look of many of the Murano bowls that I've seen. The color combination is a very common one in Murano, so I think your instinct about what it is is right.

Thanks TxSilver   --

I am leaning    :nk:    to J.I. Company for the maker -- but that is still just a guess here ??  The hunt is still on I guess.  Thank you for your confirmation on where to lean towards.

 :hi: there:

Found this Duck on fleabay that looks the same as mine, and that Does have a Sticker on it from J.I. Co Murano, *See HERE   He's at a good price (yet)

So would others agree that the shape/style is a match -- and that the ID of this item has been Found ?  Thanks, let me know.

Then Anne can add the ID to the title.....and I guess ?? move it over to the Murano board ??  if all are in that Opinion the ID is confirmed.

Thanks  :kissy:
