Fazzoletto Vase
« on: June 01, 2011, 06:28:43 PM »
Red fazzoletto vase with white interior and squared of cased base - 5.75" high - label to base says 'Foreign' do I take that to mean Chinese or Polish - it feels old to me say 60s 70s - were those countries doing such things back then

Any info welcomed

Thanks Adam

I don't recognize the vase, but to answer one of your questions, many countries were making fazzoletto vases in the 60's and 70's.

Possibly Japanese. I have owned a few Hineri pieces with the bases like that and also in this similar style. The 'Foreign' label in that colour I have never seen before. It is quite a nice piece and looks made well. I would rule out Chinese as the quality looks good.

If Japanese, likely late 60's to mid seventies.

'Foreign' labels were often used for imports to the UK from Japan and Germany.
