You could try dusting a little talcum powder on the base, then remove it gently with your thumb - an etched  mark may become visible.
The marks can be very, very difficult to find, and they're not always in logical places.
(I want to get my mitts on it, just to check myself there really aren't any marks!  :pb: )

ooooh, pook.
I still think WC is the most likely contender. It is a lovely thing, the cutting is quite "Arty", however, I don't think it's likely to raise a huge amount of cash. I've picked these up in charity shops for up to around £3. You could try searching ebay for similar items and watch to see if they go for much - but without a mark, it could struggle.
