id request for scent with engraved No.
« on: July 04, 2011, 06:46:30 PM »
not sure which method used to apply the No. - although thought for a moment this might have been a Baccarat piece - but believe this No. is far too high.    Not a great deal of wear to the base, which is flat, with a matt recessed star.    Perhaps it an Avon piece for all I know.   Very, very pale grey/blue colour, and seems an unusual shape, which appears modern, although the stopper has a 'deco' look.    Total height with stopper is about 4"/100mm.    Would be interested to know if anyone does recognize this piece, and thanks for looking. :)

Reminds me of the Thierry Mugler 'Angel' perfume 'special edition' bottle....I never managed to get one, and this is my favourite perfume, so I will see if I can find any more info for you, :wsh:

thanks again rosie  -  and I guess the contents are worth a lot more than the empty bottle - although maybe if it was some form of limited edition container then perhaps even empty it is collectable.    Thanks for your detective work, and it will join my own collection - although most of my examples are atomisers rather than true scents.      I could perhaps have bought you the bottle - but it would be been minus the contents. :24:

What other type of perfume bottles do you collect Paul......I have a couple you might not have......swap for the animals you didn't want perhaps?

BTW Thierry Mugler Angel is my very favourite, that's how I recognised your picture...just luck really......my nickname is Angel in another life outside the GMB, which seems to take up most of it these days!

well I guess that if you don't smoke or drink, then you must be an Angel ;D        In fact when I mentioned the make/name to my other half she reminded me that she also likes Angel, and coincidentally currently has an atomiser with contents, and her example also has the matt type star as a motif on the container.       Personally, I'm very keen on Pure White Linen, on a woman you understand :24:       In fact I don't collect scents or perfumes especially, although I do have probably something like 40 -50 examples (mainly atomisers)  -  I just pick up the odd one if I'm at a boot sale - or see something in a charity shop - it's the deco style in particular that I like - and it's only when you start looking at these things that you realize how infinite in variety they are.       I was at a Surrey antiques fair this morning, and one table had examples to die for - uranium, Victorian, cut etc. all very mouth watering, but I spend enough on other glass, and daren't get into another area at the moment.           So thanks for the offer of swaps but I will just continue to pick up the odd one on my travels.    However, I still do have the elephant and rabbit put aside for you, as promised.......so if you send me your address (off board) then they will be on their way to you. :)
