I think these are particularly pretty but I've no idea what they are or where from or how old.
Apologies for my poor photos but hopefully the close up will give you an idea of the engraving.  Is it machine or hand engraved? I'm sure they aren't crystal as the glass has a faint yellow tinge to it, but both are really nicely made and finished.
Any thoughts please?  :sun:

 ::) ok I had a quick look and I'm lost.
How is plate etching done? Is it different to engraving then?
I am assuming it is done by laying a stencil of some sort over the glass and acid etching it?  Would that be right?

m (who's still trawling through very curmudgeonly, obstructive, unhelpful people at the tax office - like we should all be experts  ::) even though I consider myself quite competent at these things  :-[ I object to their tone of voice - or perhaps it's just because I'm asking for a rebate they feel obliged to be this way)
