Topic: Matched Cranberry White Enamel Vases

Hello again Everyone,

Here are 2 matching Cranberry and White Enamel Flower vases.
As you can see the decoration is mirrored on the 2.
This is not my type of glass, but came in with a large lot of Italian glass I had purchased.

The 2 pieces actually have labels underneath, but the one pictured is the one with the most writing.
It looks like they wrote "Paris" on the corner, and there are initials and numbers as well.
If anyone knows who made them and time period, it would be greatly appreciated.

can´t help you with a maker, but if I dare to guess, I´d say we´re around 1880 +- datewise. Great you´ve found a real
pair with mirrored decoration. Personally I think it´s that, what the label says ´Pair´ not ´Paris´...

I think you might be right... I am dyslexic after all, lol.
I do like that the writing (as little as we have there) is in very ornate cursive, which made me think they were pretty old to begin with.
There seems to be a "C" and an "L" in the middle.

I see there are several pieces that are similar.
Some are described as Thomas Webb & Sons English Cameo, another as Stevens & Williams.
One thing is that those appear to be signed or marked in some way (as the descriptions indicate).
I do not see any marks on my vases

One other difference I just noticed is the decoration on the rim.
Those other samples just have bands, while my vases have a more intricate design.
Maybe the rim decoration will help in identifying them?

The enamelling over the ground rim itself seems to be a Bohemian thing, though I don't know if it's exclusively Bohemian. They are certainly very nice quality.

One other question for everyone regarding the matched pair with Mirror decoration...
How unusual is it to find something like that?

A proper pair is less common than a non-mirror pair and therefore more desirable.

That does make sense, but I guess I was asking something else.
Maybe I should ask it this way... Of those makers mentioned above, that have similar decorations to my vases, are there many matched pairs out there accounted for, or that come for sale? In any reference books? or galleries?

I do not own any reference materials for Thomas Webb & Sons, Stevens & Williams or Bohemian Glass, so I have no idea what books would say in regards to that.
My expertise is Italian glass, so this type of glass is totally new to me.
