Topic: Date and name of Lalique piece?

I've had this Lalique piece for a while, but I've never really tried to find out much about it. However, I've just spent a couple of days looking at sites trying to get more information on it, and I can't find anything. I'm not sure even when it was made, as different sites seems to offer slightly different versions of the history of the mark. Any suggestions? It's 17.1 cm tall, btw.

Hi,

I don't recall the pattern, but this block letter stencilled mark dates from the early post-war period. (This mark is actually a modified R. Lalique mark with the 'R' omitted, hence the non central placement of the word 'France' below.)

Thanks, Steven.  It was the absence of the "R" that was causing me some confusion. The pieces that Anik references are early 40's so the date makes sense.

Hello, it's the bottom half of a perfume bottle, called "Helene", designed by Rene' Lalique. This one was produced right after the company resumed operations after WWII, under the direction of Marc Lalique, Rene's son.

Thanks for that info.  The perfume bottle is shown in the first link and there was  a smaller bottle as well.  

I can't quite figure out  how my piece became a vase, however.  In the pictures of the perfume bottles I've seen, the shoulder seems to be joined to the walls of the bottle with a stopper at the top.  The finish on the mouth of my piece looks pretty good to me.  Was it originally a vase or do you think soemone just did a very good job of taking the top off?

some has done a very good job of taking the top off (probably the neck had acquired a crack or large chip)
