Topic: Green Hungarian decanter...I think

I have a decanter in green glass with gold trim. It was given to my great great grandfather at the dissolution of the Irish Grand Jury circa 1877 or 1881...I can't quite decide...There was a piece of tape indicating it was Hungarian glass and given to Edward William Cuming at the the dissolution of the jury...any indication as to who may have made it and would it be late 19th century or could it be older? Much appreciate any information.

Does anyone know who the maker might be...any marks I should be looking for?....I know Hungary was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire during this time...

I would think finding out whodunnit for this decanter is quite a tall order. I think I have seen similar glass in the National museum in Budapest - which is not a glass museum but more a historical one. I have no problem @ all to see this decanter made in Hungary circa 1880.

The problem is that there is little artistic input other than glassmaker's skill, so it is unlikely that the Museum of applied art would have it in its collection.  But you can always try and send a mail to the mail address found on this page http://www.vendegvaro.hu/iparmuveszeti-muzeum-budapest.
