 :hi: there:

I had bought an glass bowl at a small auction here.  With it was these.  I was going to throw it away because it is broken and in pieces - but decided to take a closer look at it.  On the top (and bottom) appears to be like leather and it is stamped with CZECHOSLOVAKIA.  These are beads -- are they glass??  They appear to be worn too much for glass ?? But yet if you look at a broken piece, it looks like glass, and has a sharp edge to it.  Sounds like glass to me when you tap it.  If these are Plastic    (excuse me)     as I was not sure -- so that is why I am posting it.  There is a brass type of ring on both ends.  I guess some kind of hanging thing. I guess....

So I am not sure what this is or if it is plastic or glass ??  I am not really sure...because to me....it seems like glass.   I think it has some age to it, and has been beaten around a bit.  Any ideas at all --- as I am not sure either?   :huh2:  Thanks, and if Plastic just delete this topic or move to the cafe...

:spls2:  I really do not know (DUH) , as I was just going to throw it away....so best check with you folks.  :spls:

They are glass and the item is likely a "shade" for a light or lamp of some sort.... pretty popular in the early 1900's.

thanks Craig....I did not know if they went together ( a top and a bottom ) or what.  They are only about 4 inches wide -- so small lamp, but maybe early?  Thanks glad I took a closer look at them.

My personal test for glass vs plastic is to hold one.  If it feels cool it is glass/crystal, if it feels warm it is plastic.

Hello Rose....the long beads are glass and called Bugle Beads.  this is an old light shade that your pieces reminded me of....I know it isn't the same,  but it just reminded me of it...

Do have a look, if you like Arts & Crafts, (and I LOVE it!) you will like this one.

I know!!  Isn't it amazing that when you are looking for something else you find the thing you couldn't find before......so at least with the Czech label and her description ('thing'!  I love it!) you can be pretty certain yours are glass not plastic........I think! :usd:
