Could someone please also tell me about the base on Japanese glass,i thought i read somewhere that it is usually flat?

Doesn't look like Murano to me. Your piece has been made in a mould, possibly as a flat plate and then hand shaped.

 I'm not sure there is a country rule for bases.

Interesting about being a plate & then shaped.

Per the bases,i just noticed that some answers stated that the base was flat & could be Japanese.
I wondered if it was common for their bases to be flat thats all.

Japanese bases can vary from flat to ground and polished (more common). A base shot on an angle would be helpful. From the look of it I would discount Murano and possibly Japanese.

I would also agree that it was a molded piece and then shaped. The ring around the base that the piece sits on appears to be ground and polished to a degree......  But tough to tell for sure with that angle.... Many companies produced glass with that style of base finish....

I would rule Murano out.
