Topic: information request on Dartington vase.

name is acid etched, so there's no doubt of its origins, but not something that appears in the Eve Thrower & Mark Hill booklet on this factory  -  neither do I see it in Hajdamach or Miller.  The lines are about 1 - 2mm deep and have been left matt, and in places unsymmetrical in their spacing.     Height is something like 8.75"/220mm.    Doesn't seem to have much of a 'ding', although may well have some lead content - and rim is ground/polished and bevelled, although no pontil on the bottom.      I'm thinking this backstamp is early 1990's - and grateful for confirmation  -  and would appreciate any information on these 'cut' pieces.     Were they few in  number, and was the cutting outsourced possibly.   Look forward to all replies, and thanks for looking

I have one of these, seen on the right in this picture.  It was bought in the factory shop at Dartington - sorry, I can't remember exactly when but it was definitely in the 1990's.

thanks Leni  -  well, that's at least two in existance     Typically, the sort of Dartington that I guess most of us find, is the relief patterned or smooth pieces  -  and it just seemed to me that pieces with cut decoration were very much in the minority.   I'm sure you'e right with the date.

Probably not likely to be seen in the books in view of their date of origin  -  this pic is just to show that there were at least two sizes - unless anyone has something bigger or smaller than these.          The larger one is about 10.75" (275mm) tall and the shorter one about 8.75" (220mm).
