Suprise find
« on: August 14, 2011, 07:51:09 PM »
Hi all

Found this amongst a load of glass that i bought at auction. Saw it (big bulbous thing) and had a gut feeling about it.
Sure enough, it seems, it is a Murano decanter, glug bottle. Can anyone elaborate on this? Also the stopper rattles about mainly because the "o" ring is missing, would it be possible that these are still available or do i go down to my local motorist discount and try and get a match?

Regards
Malc

Identified as "Alrose" in Italian Glass Century 20 p117, although that might be the importer rather than manufacturer.  Not sure if they are Murano, but definitely Italian:

None of the ones I've seen with stoppers had the "o" ring, but maybe they all broke off over time.

Malc...it would be a nice gesture to give a tribute to GMB in your listing, as Wayne identified it for you.  :)

Do I recognise that Spaniel??
